Scholarship Information

The New Rochelle Council of Community Services is pleased to announce the continuation of its annual scholarship, designed to assist a Junior at New Rochelle High School or Huguenot Academy with limited resources to further his or her education, through either college, technical school, or vocational training. Scholarship funds can be utilized for applications, books, registration fees, or any acceptable educational expense.

Please distribute this information to as many students as possible and encourage their participation.

Completed applications and necessary documents should be submitted via the application form below by midnight on May 8, 2026.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: May 8, 2026

Scholarship recipients will be notified of their awards by May 18 and will be invited to the NRCCS Annual Breakfast on Friday, June 5, 2026

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Resident of New Rochelle

  • Junior at New Rochelle High School or Huguenot Academy

  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher, faculty member, School Counselor or Principal

  • Involvement in community service

  • Financial need

  • Interested students are required to submit an original essay entitled “What This Award Would Mean to Me.”

USE OF SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS:

  • Scholarship funding levels are $1500 and $1000. Funds may be used for academic applications, registration fees, books, or any other acceptable educational expense.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

ESSAY REQUIREMENTS:

Using the form below and upload an Original Essay, entitled:
“What This Scholarship Would Mean To Me.”

  • Your essay must include details of your community involvement, the financial impact of this scholarship for you, and your plans. Type in 12-point Times New Roman font with 2.0-line spacing. Minimum is 2 pages, maximum is 3 pages.

  • Please note that essays will be judged based on content, writing style, clarity.

LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION REQUIREMENTS:

Using the form below, upload a one-page letter of recommendation from: (a) School Counselor (b) Principal (c) Teacher (d) Faculty Member, or (e) Community Leader. The NRCCS Scholarship Committee will select the student who best meets the qualifications for our annual scholarship. 

  • Letter of Recommendation should be placed on official letterhead, as appropriate, and must include title, e-mail address and physical school address of the person making the recommendation. 

  • Letter of Recommendation should provide information about the candidate’s community service experience and prospects for future academic success. It must include reasons that the student deserves this scholarship.
